"The Choice"

De Keuze

The most recent drawing in the Transformation series is called "The Choice". It visualises the proces of taking a meta-position of ones current personal situation. When feeling enclosed by walls and losing your ways in the maze of life, try climbing on top of the walls that constitute your maze.

LenoirMind :: Art & (web) design creates works of art in many forms, using many techniques and technologies. Most forms of art and their creation processes serve as input material for research and development activities that focus on unification frameworks and methodologies. These frameworks build upon the notion of fundamental complementarity. Choose the Art form of your preference by clicking one of the icons below. Architectures for Adaptive Systems

Three initiatives focusing on a variety of topics that are relevant to the field of knowledge and experience engineering in the contexts of creativity, education and empowerment have initiated a collaboration framework. This collaboration framework is called The Openfocus Initiative.

Each initiative focus lies on its own field of expertise bearing in mind their own traditions and competencies. The three initiatives work in complement of eachother effectively allowing the corresponding domains to communicate. This network will work towards a unified frame of reference that captures these domains as well as the dynamics between these domains. This unified frame of reference aims to offer insight and understanding as well as descriptions of these in modern technological and social terms. Each of the three initiatives can offer services in their own traditional form, namely; education, consultancy and/or artistic and technological expression. The three initiatives taken together can offer undertake truly multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research. This artistic research will yield technological frameworks that may serve as a supportive systems for conceiving and building Architectures for Adaptive Systems.

LenoirMinds focus lies on artistic processes, software architecture and development as well as on empowerment. The latter in the form of embodied content and processes.
The Openfocus Institutes focus lies on finding methodologies for balancing mappings between the requirements of the individual, community and business initiatives. A key point of interest is engineering access to knowledge through application of creativity.
Muziekontwerps (Musicdesign) focus lies on the design of music and sound for the creative industries: creating new ideas, new applications of technology and new content.

The three initiatives are based at the Music Design section of the Utrecht Research & Design Institute for Digital Cultures (School of the Arts Utrecht, faculty Art, Media and Technology / Music Design), The Openfocus Institute and LenoirMind :: Research & Development. Taken together they form an Openfocus Initiative. Each of these provide a webportal that acts as a communication node for that particular viewpoint.

Liquid Environments - Tools for Creative Research

Liquid Environments can best be considered as a constantly evolving expert system without a definite expertise, but with a firm ground in practical experimentation and exploration without boundaries. It is a framework for capturing and defining contexts when there is a need to be able to do so. The criteria for legitimacy and truth are not scientific alone, nor are the criteria for truth solely artistic. The criteria for legitimacy lie in how well the frameworks support the emergence of inspiration and description; a merger of analysis and synthesis, where the moment and meaning of this merger is dictated by the context that caused the convergence.

Objective truth and subjective truth should be allowed to co-exist. Special attention is to be given to the areas where objective truth and subjective truth overlap, as we feel that these are the areas where singular patterns may emerge and where real innovation may occur.

Fuzzy Systems CD released! "Moments No 3"

The first product of the artistic collaboration of Joshue O'Connor, Fiona Guiheen, Stephen Rennicks and LenoirMind is available through Ancient Records. Click on the CD cover or on this link for more information.

"
The track sounds like a slowly evolving mystical revelation, a slow flash like moment of contemplative illumination. Detail within detail, patterns repeating but revealing new sides, further possibilities, floating indeed."

- Stephen Rennicks

Fuzzy Systems CD Released! "Samsare Blues"

Transformation IV is featured as the cover art for the second release of the international experimental music collaboration Fuzzy Systems. check out the Technica Curiosa website for more details and ordering information.

"Two new tracks from the Fuzzy Systems album “Samsara Blues” are available now from the Technica Curiosa website. The two tracks are called “Light and Fire” and “Air and Ether”, they are the latest instalment in the international collectives experimental musings. The two tracks are completely live and improvised and feature the fantastic emotive guitar playing of Tony Murray. They are meditative pieces which conjure up images of sunsets and oceans in different galaxies as well as inner journeys of reflection."

Clutching at thoughts : Transformation IV - "The Gardener"

Individual's hands lifting up the ground that forms the very basis of that individual. Taken together these 'generative structures' form the basis and ceiling of what that group of individuals can achieve on that particular moment. Better make sure the ropes between all the individual islands are well connected then to keep this dynamic system in balance. By doing so, they create new solid ground to walk upon. If you zoom out extremely you won't see the hands anymore nor would you see the empty infinite space that seperates the individual islands. You'll probably see something that resembles a gravel path. In a way this provides oppertunities for building roads - now or in the future. Some individuals try to grip the whole of their island in one hand, perhaps tilting it and cause temporal disharmony within the whole. Others lift it elegantly like a plate. Other are not even aware that they can cary the islands themselves. All of these are valid strategies. Providing a governing overview that contextualises all of these strategies without destroying them allows lifelines to be throwns from island to island. Context to context. A gardener that works on each of these islands is an antropomorphic manifestation of a structuring mechanism that stimulates growth to emerge.
